Denys k 3d artist1/14/2024 ![]() His most succesful and by many his best film is ''Eternity and a Day'', but my favourite is ''Τοπίο στην Ομίχλη". His style has been described as slow and melancholic and he is considered as one of the most influential European directors. Theo Angelopoulos: Arguably the best greek director of all time. A great place to start with his filmography would be Meghe Dhaka Tara (1960) or Komal Gandhar (1961). His films dealt with the day to day lives of the common poor and he was one of the earliest Indian directors who made films with feminist themes. He was, in a way, obsessed with the the India-Pakistan partition. Ritwik Gathak - The guy was famous for his Bengali films. ![]() My personal favourites of his are Roja (1992), Bombay (1995) and Dil Se. Most of his films are in his native Tamil language and they are all worth a try. His movies are at times hard to classify but he has made films of all genres from romantic dramas to action thrillers. A place to start would be Pather Panchali (1955), Aparajito (1956) or Mahanagar (1963). He has been heavily praised by contemporaries such as Scorsese, Kurosawa and Coppola. He was known for his films about the lives of the working class and the poor. Satyajit Ray - The most critically acclaimed director in Indian cinema history. Sure his filmography is a little inconsistent but these two are absolutely wonderful. My two favourite films of his.ģ.ℒ□□□□ ℳℴℴ□□□ℴ□ When i think of swedish films from my childhood that i grew up with, they are all from this guy. ℛ□□ℯ□ □̈□□□□□□ He kinda blew up a little when he won the Palme d'Or for The square(2017) but his earlier work is not that well known and may i say maybe even better. ℐ□ℊ□□□ ℬℯ□ℊ□□□ Of course this is number one, you all know him you all love him. I love that people take a little time to explain their native film culture and industry! Hm maybe its easier if you go by east/west/north/south if you are from US. If you are from the US, maybe go by state? That might be more of a challenge for you.Įdit 1. I'm also aware that the best international directors almost always starts making english speaking films in the end, but going back and looking at the films that made the director is so much fun. ![]() As soon as you start relying on subtitles and not understanding the language there is a whole new world opening up(not that i dont think most people here has made that jump already) I also know that the biggest jump you can do in the film lovers world is to get past the subtitles barrier. I'm always looking for new exciting films to fall in love with and as we all know the best way to find art is to follow the artist.
